What wins, and in what category

Each of these took a different comparison. Where we have a live price it is on the button; where we do not, the button says so rather than showing you an old number.

The six things worth understanding

Everyone in this category says they tested twenty warmers. We have not tested any, and we say so.

So the fair question is why you should trust a word of it. Here is what we did instead. We compiled the published specifications - wattage, bulb fitment, dish size, pack weight, stated hours - and printed the source and the date next to every number. We read the manufacturer pages. We computed the electrical load and the running cost from rated wattage and labeled the electricity rate as the assumption it is. And we checked every safety claim against the NFPA, the Pet Poison Helpline and VCA, cited by name at the point of the claim.

All of it is linked, and every number on this site can be reproduced from the method page without taking our word for anything. Where the evidence is genuinely thin - long-term indoor air quality is the real example - we say that rather than picking whichever answer suits a sale.

Read these first

Four pages that carry the site's argument: the warmer taxonomy nobody else publishes, the running-cost arithmetic nobody else shows, the cat guidance with the authorities named, and a straight definition of the term the whole industry uses without defining.

Safety

Are wax melts safe for cats?

The named oils, the metabolic reason cats are affected, the signs of exposure, and what to do - all cited to Pet Poison Helpline and VCA.

Scent Throw

What is scent throw?

A crisp definition, the four variables that actually determine throw, and why no brand can substantiate a strength claim.

How this is paid for

The Wax Index is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you buy something through a link here we earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That is the entire business model: we sell no wax, we take no press samples, and no brand has paid for placement or seen a page before it went live.

Commission does not decide the picks. Where a product we rank highly has no verified buy path, we say so and link nothing rather than sending you somewhere we have not checked.
